First let us define an antique lamp as one from a bygone era which is a long indefinite time period. Determination of an antique lamp includes some time period designation normally in the form of "circa year". i.e. "circa 1905" which literally means "about the year 1905". So the term "antique lamp" will be used on this basis and often substituted with the term "vintage".
A very good reason to purchase an antique lamp is the current and future value of the lamp. Many of the antique lamps produced around 1900-1930 commonly sell for 10 - 20 times their original retail price. It is not unusual to find numerous lamps selling for 100 times the original retail price. There are some selling for incredible amounts compared to what they sold for when new - See WORLD'S MOST EXPENSIVE LAMP in the BIOGRAPHY below. It has a fabric shade that disseminates the light evenly to give you perfect lighting. The 4 crystals require a Candelabra bulb in each, and it comes with an inline switch. I think this vintage light is perfect if you like the antique look rather than a modern feel. This lamp is one of the cheapest vintage crystal lamps at a discount of $172.
I really wanted to find a cordless crystal table lamp that I could show you, but it turns out that there aren't very many battery powered table lamps available. So we will look at this BettyLou Cordless LED Lamp instead. This lamp is made of almost 100% glass and it will work in any contemporary setting. Since it is battery powered, one question you always have to ask is how long will it stay lit? Well, the answer is that this cordless light will give excellent lighting for over 7 hours.
